so you were born, as was i;
catapulted into the stream
like keen spittle,
pulled forward in the rush.
fate seemed so fast
and familiar,
you were drowning as a young child
without the touch of wetness.
the currents throbbed forward,
a sly water noose caught
around your throat;
this was how you were born.
the other boys that swam against
your legs
as you kicked away from your birth,
are all walking now.
the fish that had let you
latch on to their tails;
their scales now glitter beneath
the wide bright blue.
did you feel the flooding
in your nerves,
the water in your heart,
as you were shoved into another existence?
